What is Gemini Spark?
Google describes Spark as 'your 24/7 personal AI agent that helps you navigate your digital life, takes action on your behalf' — and if your digital life is Google's, that's exactly what it is. It sits inside the Gemini app with native access to Gmail, Calendar, Drive, Docs, Sheets, Keep, Tasks, and Photos, runs up to 15 scheduled or event-triggered tasks ('when my flight is delayed…'), and since July can 'use your logged-in accounts and saved passwords to handle tedious web errands' in Chrome, handing sensitive steps like payments back to you. September added Photos: it curates, edits, builds albums, and asks before sharing them. The Verge's first hands-on reaction — 'Wow, that's actually nuts' — is the right one for what it can do inside the walls.
The walls are the review. One tester who paid for Ultra to try it concluded it was 'one of the most capable hosted agents I've used' and, in the same breath, that 'there's no real extensibility, and that's the dealbreaker.' The other cost is the defaults: Spark is the only agent here documented to use your saved passwords and the only one whose vendor states that connected-app derivatives train its models by default (Spark requires the setting that enables it). It's also geographically gated — absent from the EEA, UK, Switzerland, and Nigeria, with Chrome browsing US-only. For Google-first users on AI Pro (or students, who get a free year), it's a remarkable bundle; for anyone else, it's an agent for a life you don't live.

If you're a Google AI Pro subscriber, Spark is the most capable agent you already own, and for a Gmail-Calendar-Drive life it does more with less setup than anything here.
