Everything Muse Got at Meta Connect 2026: Its Own Email, a Video Avatar, Glasses, Mac Control, and Walmart

Short answer: Meta Connect turned Muse from a chat thread into a platform — on paper. Of everything announced on September 23, only one Muse feature is in the app tonight by Meta's own account (computer use on the Mac). The rest — a video avatar, a personal email address, glasses integration, and a dozen retail connectors including Walmart and Best Buy — is 'coming,' 'in the coming months,' or 'we're adding,' with no dates. Here's each item phrased as the question people are searching, with the status marked. The hardware gets its own page: What is Muse Charm?

Does Muse have its own email address?

Announced; not live. Meta's recap: 'Muse will have its own email address that it can use to get things done, or even just as another way for you to communicate with it.' Future tense, no date, no domain. Per TechCrunch, Alexandr Wang said 'soon' and described adding your Muse to a thread or forwarding it emails. The @muse.ai domain you may have seen is from Runtime Wire's read of the Mac app's code, not an announcement. Why it matters: this inverts last week's privacy question. Instead of you connecting Gmail to Muse, Muse gets an inbox of its own that other people can write to — a new surface for spam, phishing, and prompt injection that Meta hasn't documented yet. When it ships, treat that address like a connector and check what permissions inbound mail can trigger.

Can you video-chat with Muse? What is Muse Realtime Avatar?

Announced; rolling out 'soon.' Meta Superintelligence Labs introduced 'Muse Realtime Avatar, state-of-the-art embodiment technology that turns Muse Realtime Voice into expressive, interactive avatars.' The research post gives the specs — 448×768 at 25 frames per second, about 870 ms of latency — and Wang says voice and video 'are in sync, so muse will answer in under a second.' You can already customize the voice by describing it ('faster, slower, or even a specific accent'); the live video conversation is what The Verge calls something 'you'll soon be able to have.' One caveat straight from Meta: the demo clips 'illustrate model capability and do not all reflect avatars available in the Muse app.' The on-stage avatar's name, Jolly, appears only in TechCrunch's reporting.

Does Muse work on Meta glasses?

Not yet — 'in the coming months.' Meta: 'In the coming months we're bringing Muse to our AI glasses for hands-free access, activated by saying your agent's name. Muse can also act on what you're looking at… ask about a product on a shelf, a flier on a wall, or a long list of school supplies, and Muse can take action.' Meta didn't specify which models; a Meta executive's post said 'supported on all glasses,' but the company's written copy is 'coming soon to our growing collection.' The lineup that will eventually carry it: Ray-Ban Meta Gen 3 from $449 (available now), the camera-free Ray-Ban Meta Audio from $349 (ships October 13), Meta Adventurer at $249, a LISA Edition at $399, and $1,299.99 Meta VR Glasses in spring 2027 — over 100 styles by year-end, per Meta.

Can Muse control my Mac?

Meta says yes, now — the press said 'soon.' Meta's recap is unambiguous: 'Computer use is now available with Muse for Mac. With your permission, Muse can now drive any app on your Mac. You can walk away from your computer and it keeps working for you on all the tasks you've lined up.' TechCrunch and The Verge both framed it as forthcoming. We're going with Meta's wording and will note if the update hasn't reached the app. Two things to hold in mind: the Mac app is the one that had a real zero-day patched five days ago, and 'drive any app' is the broadest permission Muse has asked for — set it to ask before acting, per our safety guide.

Can Muse shop at Walmart now?

Announced; no live date. Three days after Amazon blocked Muse, Meta read out a list: 'we're adding Walmart, Best Buy, American Eagle Outfitters, DICK'S Sporting Goods, Fanatics, Gap, Michael Kors, Sephora, Ulta, and Wayfair, plus Shop Pay and PayPal for payments. Expedia is coming soon… Instacart is there. For getting work done, there's Notion, Granola, GitHub, and Box.' The verb is 'adding,' not 'available today'; none of the retailers has issued a statement, and Walmart's newsroom is silent. Shopify's catalogue has been searchable in Muse since launch. Amazon was not mentioned on stage. Wang said developers filed 'more than 1,500 applications in less than [a] week' to build connectors.

How does Muse make money?

Zuckerberg said it plainly for the first time: 'We're standing behind this by making Muse free for a huge number of tokens, with the expectation that over time we will profit by taking a small fee from transactions.' That's the business model behind the retailer list, the payment partnerships, and — inevitably — the Amazon fight: Meta wants a cut of what Muse buys, and Amazon declined to participate. Our tokens guide covers the free allowance and the $20/$100 tiers, which Connect left unchanged.

How many people use Muse? Connect didn't say.

I expect shares of $META to be flat to down on the Meta Connect keynote, given we didn't get much on Muse adoption. What we got that was important is Zuck's vision that all that matters to the company long term is Muse. Bad news for $GOOG.

No downloads, no daily users, no task counts — only the thesis: 'In the coming years, I expect that Muse is going to grow into the personal superintelligence that billions of people around the world are going to use.' The numbers that exist are all third-party: Sensor Tower's 560,000 daily users after eleven days and 83,000 first-weekend US iOS downloads; Apptopia's 2.8 million US and Canada downloads in twelve days (via Reuters); and the #1 spots on both app stores. None is Meta's, and Meta had the chance to correct or confirm them on stage and didn't.

What Connect did not address

  • Phone-call disclosure. After Reuters' report that Meta tested undisclosed human contractors placing Muse calls, nothing on stage about AI disclosure or the calling beta's status. Our calling guide stands.
  • Meta Pay. Jane Manchun Wong found 'Meta Pay for Muse, a first-party wallet' in the app's code that morning; Connect named Shop Pay and PayPal and never said 'Meta Pay.'
  • Amazon. Not mentioned.
  • Pricing, tiers, and new countries. No changes; Muse remains US and Canada, free with 100M tokens a week.

Our read

Connect was a hardware show that only makes sense if Muse is the operating system, and Meta said so out loud: 'all that matters to the company long term is Muse,' in Munster's summary. The strategy is coherent — an agent that already acts for you, now with a face, an inbox, a keychain, eyes on your glasses, and hands on your Mac, paid for by a toll on what it buys. What's missing is the same thing that was missing last week: documentation and dates. A personal email address for an AI agent is a genuinely new attack surface; 'drive any app on your Mac' is the broadest permission in consumer software; and the retailer list is a press release until a single store says it's live. We'll update our Muse review as each item ships, and not before.
